Colours of inspiration and brush strokes of renewed hope .... volunteers of Paint Jamaica bring walls in Fleet Street, downtown Kingston to life.

Kingston, Jamaica

Downtown Fleet Street a Mural Mecca

Projecting images of inner city life like flash cards

On otherwise derelict walls.

Artists and volunteers of all stripes

Incarnating the spirit of Bob Marley.

An open-air space transformed

Becomes a hub of self and pride.

A happening where Shango inspired

With a vision of an ongoing art project

Extends his thumb and forefinger

To a captivated stranger soaking up

Reality, strength and possibility,

ingredients of a Kingston stew.

– Carol Chapman

Revealed

The dim light has burnt off its sight,

And here I stand prisoner to my fright.

Hope that fetches my heart,

Is crushed and broken apart.

It was the sky drifting through the wind,

My grace has lied and sinned.

A soul that is grey ire,

Is my mind’s utmost sire.

Your sight will lure for my trust,

But it’s all shadows and dust.

– Simon Rosea D’vinca
