The housing project being pursued by WIHCON near Harbour View at a cost $1.12 billion will launch into construction this quarter, the company said.

The complex, to be called Seascape, will incorporate 96 homes on lands provided for the project by the Ministry of Economic Growth and Job Creation.

WIHCON's General Manager of Development Aisha Campbell, says the development will span 3.51 acres owned by the ministry.

"As such the project is a joint venture between that Ministry and WIHCON ," Campbell said.

Seascape will comprise 40 one-bedroom apartments, 40 two-bedroom apartments 16 two-bedroom townhouses. The prices of the units, which will range in size from 644 square feet 955 square feet, have not been finalised, Campbell said.

The Ministry of Economic Growth has said the development would be a source of subsidised housing for displaced persons. Its website indicates that under the Joint Venture Agreement with WIHCON, 20 residents from Caribbean Terrace whose homes were destroyed following the passage of Hurricanes Ivan and Dean in 2004 and 2007 will get "a subsidy provided by the government should they decide to purchase a unit in the development".

Campbell said that the demographic being targeted by WIHCON are individuals earning "between $150,000 and $300,000 per month".
