Illegal Venezuelan nationals held by T&T police

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – The police on Friday arrested 32 illegal immigrants during an operation in the town of Penal.

According to reports, a team of officers, during the operation between the hours of 2 p.m. and 9 p.m., held seven people at a house in the town while another 23 people were discovered at a bar in the area.

Of those arrested, 31 are nationals of Venezuela and one is a national of Guyana.

Nine people were given notices and allowed to leave, while the others are being held at different stations within the division.

Three people were also arrested for gaming machine offences.
