Trinity can't preach to me

THE EDITOR, Sir:

Of all the commentaries that appeared in The Sunday Gleaner on February 11, 2018, I am flabbergasted by the one written by Keith Gardener, retired assistant commissioner of police, titled 'JCF needs shock treatment'.

Mr Gardner's style of policing was not worthy of emulation by young constables of the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. While he kept some street toughs in line, the only thing he had to offer were the trigger and the bullet - nothing cerebral or transformational.

Should Jamaica embrace a truth and reconciliation commission, Mr Gardener could well be called out to testify.

I am not sanguine about any suggestions from Mr Gardener about reforming the JCF. He should leave that to others, replicate the action of the thief on the cross beside Christ, and move on peacefully with his life.
