Stop the mining, now
THE EDITOR, Madam:
All mining in Jamaica should cease immediately.
We have witnessed the destruction of families and land resulting from mining in Jamaica. We ought to be looking to the future and at the environment with a view to sustainable development.
The planting of ganja and hemp is sustainable. They are economic powerhouses of the future; as well as food farming and water production.
We, therefore, need not destroy our beautiful island in the name of economical development. We can have it both ways.
No more mining in Jamaica! Water, ganja, hemp and food are the answers.
