Lock down the country for Easter holidays
THE EDITOR, Madam:
Mr Prime Minister, you can flatten the curve but please don’t flatten the economy that your administration has made better for the past four years. You can lock down sections of the island that have a trend of COVID-19 but still open other sections.
I support a partial shutdown, but my suggestion is, we are coming up to the Easter holiday, hence there will be gathering by unruly Jamaicans. Therefore, the lockdown should be for the period Thursday, April 9 to Tuesday, April 14, 2020.
Mr PM, please don’t follow anyone wanting the country to have a total lockdown for the entire month of April. A total lockdown of the country will lead to:
1. Suicides going up
2. Robberies going up
3. Poverty going up
4. Unemployment going up
5. Unwanted pregnancies going up
6. HIV infection going up
7. Unrest due to starvation
