Classes resume at Bowden Hill Primary in St Andrew
The Ministry of Education is reporting that classes have resumed at the Bowden Hill Primary & Infant School in St Andrew which was closed on Monday following the collapse of the Airy Castle Bridge.
The Ministry ordered the school closed to ensure the safety and security of the staff and students, based on preliminary assessments by the National Works Agency (NWA) and the Kingston and St Andrew Municipality.
It says an alternative access route has since been identified and teachers, students and parents living outside community will be able to get to the school via the Airy Castle River Bed, supported by charted transportation to the school.
The education ministry says during the time of the closure it shared worksheets electronically with parents whose students were engaged in curriculum-based activities.
The ministry says it has been assured by the NWA and the municipal corporation that the bridge will be restored in the shortest possible time.
