King, Allen, Green get Windies B nod

Jamaican batsmen Brandon King and Fabian Allen, as well as fast bowing all-rounder Derval Green has been included in the Windies B team, which will participate later this month in the inaugural Canada Global Twenty20 tournament.

The trio gained selection after fairly impressive returns in the regional four-day and one-day tournaments earlier this season.

The 23-year-old King, who, like Allen, is a former Windies Under-19 representative, currently averages 29.80 from 20 first-class matches to, including one century and five half-centuries.

Allen, also 23, and who made back-to-back hundreds for Jamaica Scorpions, has an average of 36.26 from 12 matches, inclusive of two centuries, and four fifties.

King and Allen, having debuted for St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League Twenty20 last season, were redrafted by franchise earlier this season as well.

The 29-year-old Green, in the meantime, has a first-class average of 27.76 with the ball, and 14.53 with the bat from 18 matches.

The Canada Global Twenty20, which will be staged between June 28 and July 15 by the Maple Leaf Cricket Club in Toronto, will represent the first major Twenty20 tournament to be played in North America.

It will feature a number of the leading Twenty20 players in the world, including West Indians Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine, Darren Sammy and Kieron Pollard.

Australians Steve Smith and David Warner, as well as Pakistanis Shahid Afridi and Mohammed Hafeez, South African David Miller and Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga will also participate in the ICC-approved tournament.
