St Mary, Trelawny secure U-17 wins

St Mary destroyed Hanover, while Trelawny barely got by St James in Zone B of the national 50-over Under-17 cricket competition at the weekend.

Batting first at home at the Boscobel Field, St Mary made a whopping 715 for 9 from its 50 overs. The innings had 42 sixes and 94 fours. Zendai Williams, in his top score of 258, hit 19 sixes and 26 fours. The support came from Tajay Coke, 115; Jevaughn Nembhard, 82; Andel Gordon, 46; Marlon Williams, 42; and Oshan Ennis, 31.

Hanover were bowled out for 87 in 15.4 overs.

Devaughn Hall, 25, was the only batsman to reach double figures. Zendai Williams was also devastating with the ball taking four from five overs for 12 runs. Jevaughn Nembhard, in his 4.4 overs, netted three for 16 runs, and ended as the next best bowler.

Trelawny had a one-wicket win over St James at the Trelawny Stadium when the neighbours clashed. St James, batting first, made 150 all out from 35 overs. Samuel Evans top-scored with 37 and Kession Samuels 30. Ethan Lee and Miguel McLeary took three wickets each.

Trelawny went on to score 151 for 9 from 31 overs. Wayan Hanson and Devin Howell made 33 and 34, respectively. Kession Samuel got five wickets from nine overs, with 34 runs coming from it.

On Saturday, zone action continues when Hanover travel to the Trelawny Stadium to face Trelawny, while St Ann will take on St James at the Port Rhoades Sports Club in Discovery Bay.
