KSAFA Under-13 and Under-15 final on today
The UWI - Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence will be buzzing with excitement this afternoon when defending champions Cavalier tackle Santos in the final of KSAFA Under-15 competition starting at 4:00 p.m.
In the opening match of the double-header, Santos will battle Harbour View, who will be seeking their fourth straight title in the Under-13 final starting at 2:30 p.m.
The Under-15 final is expected to be very intriguing as both teams are evenly matched in all departments. In fact, when both teams meet in the group stage, Santos carved out a 2-1 win over their opponents.
Cavailer beat Mountain View 3-0 to secure their spot in the final and head coach Everdeen Scarlett said they are determined to defend their title today.
“We are pretty much confident that we can get over the line and get the job done against them,” said Scarlett. “We just have to pass the football and mark people and don’t give up any space for them to score.”
“We are expecting a tough game because we are the defending champions, and so they are coming seeking the title, and so we know what we are up against, and so we are ready for the challenge,” Scarlett added.
On the other hand, Carlton ‘Spanner’ Dennis, head coach of Santos, said he is delighted to be in both finals and that his players are looking to give a good account of themselves.
“This is very important to us, but the most important thing is that we have two teams in the final, and so it’s showing that you are doing some work,” said Dennis.
“We played Cavalier in the preliminary round because the two of us came out of the same zone. We beat them, but it won’t be an easy game,” he added.
“We know what we are about, and so we just have to go out and do our work and ensure that we take home the victory,” said Dennis, adding that he is expecting a tough encounter from his opponents.
