TREVOR’S CHOICE defied near-topweight to blind rivals with speed in yesterday’s closing event, clocking a fast 1:05.1 for five and a half furlongs.

The dark bay colt left post-position one blazing with Shane Ellis and had the entire field pushing to keep pace.

Relaxed on the lead by Ellis turning for home with CASUAL DRINK and FORMAL FASHION chasing, TREVOR’S CHOICE found a third gear and pulled away from the pack at odds of 3-1.

DUKE, the 7-5 favourite, ran wide into the lane and closed to claim second ahead of FORMAL FASHION.

Meanwhile, EXHILARATE took advantage of 1-5 favourite MR UNIVERSE’s tardy start to rack her second straight win, going all the way in the second event at five furlongs round.

Unmolested on the lead after MR UNIVERSE uncharacteristically missed the break, EXHILARATE had things her way and had no problem turning back the five-year-old, who had to be ridden to go second after a furlong and a half.

EXHILARATE extended Anthony Nunes $7 million lead atop the trainers’ standings with three meets remaining to close the season.

Racing continues at Caymanas Park on Saturday.
