Pakistan batters dominate proceedings against Select XI

Centuries by Azan Awais and skipper Babar Azam led a dominant batting display by Pakistan against a West Indies Select XI at the halfway stage of their four-day warm-up match yesterday.
Both batters made even centuries as the visitors piled on 455 for four at the end of the second day’s play at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
Resuming from his overnight score of 78, Awais reached his century off 241 balls before retiring hurt, bringing an end to the 100-run partnership he shared with Azam.
Azam then added 79 runs with Abdullah Fazal, during which he also brought up his 100 off 151 balls, which contained 12 fours and one six.
Shortly after reaching the milestone, he also retired, a move mirrored by Fazal after he scored a half-century.
Off-spinner Ryan Bandoo was responsible for the only two wickets to fall on the day, having Salman Ali Agha stumped by wicketkeeper Joshua Da Silva for 46 and bowling Aamir Jamal for 22.
Muhammad Rizwan was unbeaten on 44 off 103 balls at the close of play, which came following Jamal’s dismissal.
Bandoo has so far taken 2-86.
