Sagicor Bank Jamaica last Friday partnered with the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, the Ministry of Science, Energy and Technology, and the Rural Agricultural Development Authority in the first staging of a cashless farmers’ market. The event, hosted at the Hope Gardens, saw a large crowd utilising the bank’s mobile point-of-sale device, SWYPE, and its prepaid card, MyCash, to purchase fruits, vegetables and eggs from farmers. The patrons used their credit, debit and MyCash cards to purchase tickets which were used to collect produce.
