Dynamic Lifestyle | Drink up to lose weight
How many times have you ever thought "this weight isn't going anywhere"? You slave away in the gym, you try your best to eat clean, you get enough sleep, but still not where you want to be.
Next to the fact that weight loss takes time, there's a secret that you need to know - water is your friend!
So, maybe you're not a fan of just plain water or you want something to spruce it up a bit, don't worry, this is #DynamicLifestyle approved.
Here are five quick tips on how you can add more water to your diet, and what this means to your goal of being the best version of yourself. Ready? Let's go!
1. Carry a bottle of infused-water with you everywhere
Let's not focus on fat for a minute, and think about function. Here's the thing: your body is made up of 70 per cent water - your brain included. If your brain doesn't get enough water, headaches are gonna be your first telltale sign, or it could be that you feel hungry. The same receptors in the brain for hunger are the same for food. To counteract you turning into a raging monster and eating everything in sight, stave off hunger with some infused water. You can use lime or lemon to add a kick - some people like to mix their spirulina and lemon it gives a real kick and will help you lose weight faster, as spirulina is a superfood.
2. Snack on water-rich fruits and veggies
It's the rainy season, so that means there's an abundance of water-rich fruits and veggies available. Always go for fruits that are in season but for the purpose of a lean lifestyle, eat more veggies and less fruits. Here's how to do it - prepare cucumber, cantaloupe, and watermelon overnight in a ziplock bag or lunch bag, by dicing them into bite-size snackable portions. Eat these during the day - they are low in calories and will fill you longer.
3. Drink Ice Water
3-4 times a day
One of the best ways to lose weight is to drink iced water. Here's why - iced water counteracts the body's natural desire to maintain its 98.68Fahrenheit (normal body temperature). The ice forces the body to raise your metabolism which increases the rate at which fat is burnt without you even working a muscle.
4. Start Small think Gallon Sized - Drink by Hours
You workout, you sweat, you get tired. My advice is to walk with a one-gallon bottle and break it down into - how much you will drink by what time. The truth is, you need at least one gallon of water daily for optimum water intake. Slowly and surely, you'll drink it all by the end of the day.
5. Get Fizzy With It
My final tip is that, if you want to simulate the taste of soda without the extra calories, try a sparkling alternative. You can make it the old-fashioned way. In the past, soda water was made at home and the bar with a seltzer bottle - you can still find vintage glass versions of these on eBay and in antique shops - they're often very beautiful. It's a simple system - a soda siphon with an attached gas canister carbonates water.
