Twin Rivers doubles down on great food
Described as the ultimate Jamaican experience, Twin Rivers Getaway is the perfect ecological escape for those looking to unwind. With that in mind, guests on the Red Stripe Jamaicanness tour were treated to a day of fun and frolic featuring good vibes, amazing company, and great food at the St Mary-based attraction. The one-day getaway, organised by Maleek Powell of Adventure Squad Ja, made people feel relaxed and rejuvenated.
The journey to Twin Rivers, equally as therapeutic as the location, saw the lush greenery and refreshing air creating a picturesque ambience as you approached the location. Upon entry, the aromatic food lined up drew the guests immediately to the area set up for dining. Catering was provided by Don A Dai’s Homestyle Catering Services, which served up delicious manish water as an appetiser, followed by an authentic Jamaican lunch menu. This included curried goat, fried chicken, escovitch fish, stewed peas with pig’s tail, white rice, vegetable salad, potato salad and corn on the cob, topped off with real Jamaican sweet potato pudding, and all served up with ice-cold beers.
Donasha Biggs, owner and operator of Don A Dai’s Catering, was satisfied with the positive feedback she continues to receive. “It’s a lot of work, but it’s very rewarding when you hear the positive feedback. Persons always come back for more. We’ve been working with Twin Rivers since they opened, and we’re happy we could have attached our very flavourful touch to the location,” she said, smiling as the guests returned for seconds.
Opened in June, Donovan Johnson, operations manager at Twin Rivers, expressed pride that visitors have been experiencing what they had set out to offer. “We developed this location from scratch, focusing on every minor detail. We’ve been open for five months, and since then, we’ve hosted several events. We want to provide the ultimate experience. This includes every aspect: food, enjoyment, and great customer service. Twin Rivers is a getaway, and once you’re here, it’s like you’re on a different island, away from all the hustle and bustle. This is our first time hosting Red Stripe, and we hope to do so in the near future.”
Boasting a unique make-up, the river got its name because the two rivers meet with varying temperatures, where one is actually cold and the other hot. Twin Rivers is the perfect place to unwind, whether it’s enjoying the swings situated over the river, river tubing, or sitting on the rocks reflecting on a grand time.
