2 policemen shot dead, civilian injured

Commanding officer for the St Thomas Police Division Deputy Superintendent Charmaine Shand yesterday confirmed that two policemen are now dead following a shooting incident that took place in Yallahs, St Thomas.

Up to press time, the superintendent said that she had no details but was on her way to the scene. She was only able to say that it was a drive-by shooting in which a civilian had also been shot. The condition of that person is not known.

"I just got confirmation that they (the policemen) are no longer with us. I can't say anything much at this time. Myself along with the commissioner and others are heading over now. I'm currently driving over, so you can understand how I'm feeling," she said.
