Police personnel from the St Catherine North division have detained several persons following a fracas at the Meadowrest cemetery this afternoon.

During a tussle, a security guard was wounded in a knife attack.

Shots were also fired.

Late Wednesday afternoon, heavily armed personnel were manning the  Frazer's Content location.

"We are here to maintain the peace which was disrupted earlier," Deputy Superintendent of Police Linroy Edwards said.

It is reported that the police were called after a dispute developed between security guards and a group of mourners.

As a result of the disturbance, the main road to the cemetery was blocked preventing several hearses from entering the compound.
