Stop burning garbage
THE EDITOR, Madam:
While we welcome Health and Wellness Minister Christopher Tufton’s continued campaign against tobacco, as he pursues on the path of his predecessor, it seems both of them have carefully avoided, or said it very briefly, another toxic menace, that of burning of garbage, which is still rampant.
The toxicity of garbage burning is very well and widely documented, and now with the COVID-19 pandemic upon us, Jamaica can do without burning of garbage in backyards or anywhere else. Can the honourable minister take note of the story of Genesis 29:15-26 and instead voluntarily include ‘Leah in his marriage to his preferred Rachel’, recognising that it is not our custom to deal with the one without the other?
