Breon gives Rosano the ‘Green’ light to endless love
It is said that what God joins together, let no man put asunder. One weekend, Rosano Benton Green went to visit a Seventh-day Adventist Church where his mother was a guest preacher for the Women’s Day service. What he never counted on was spotting an angel in the congregation. He learned that her name was Breon Barnett. But today, she’s Mrs Breon Barnett-Green.
During their encounter, Rosano was impressed by how calm-spirited Breon was. “I initially thought he was so nerdy, to be honest,” Breon told Island Wedding, adding, “He was the head boy for St Catherine High at the time, which we both attended, and he was always so academically driven and nerd-like to me.”
They began conversing over Facebook Messenger thereafter, and that’s when he decided to make his move. “I told her I’m gonna be her boyfriend one day.”
On their first date, the duo went to the Palisadoes to watch the waves before heading to Anglers restaurant for dinner.
“We were together in 2016-2018, but we didn’t work out as we wanted to so we went our separate ways,” she explained. In 2020, however, they reunited through a church ministry, “By working together and teaching the Pathfinder Club at our churches, we then decided to give it a try once again,” Breon added.
Caring, humble, loving, kind, and a walking dictionary were the words Rosano used to describe his beloved. “She seeks to ensure persons around her are comfortable and cared for. She has supported me mentally and spiritually. And she will make it her duty to ensure your needs are met. We do things around the house together, and we pray and worship together. I couldn’t ask for a better wife.”
Her dependable, affectionate, passionate, smart, and ‘supercalifragilistic-expialidocious’ partner in love doesn’t hesitate in making her feel comfortable in her skin.
“I am my true self, experiencing true happiness. Rosano is so caring and compassionate. I have been drawn closer to God, and I’ve been allowed the opportunity to express myself in all aspects. Rosano has made me more faithful in life overall. I have gained so much confidence in how things will work out, regardless of how small and dim they seem. He has made me more optimistic at life and its trials,” she said.
Helping her to grow in knowledge and grace, she has become a lot calmer and critical in her way of thinking, “I am very excited and overly exaggerating, but Rosano calms me down. Through every breakdown and mental period of defeat, he is there to conquer and help me to prevail, being my rock and giving me a shoulder to cry on. He is present, a great communicator, and he’s intentional with his love for me and with his plans for our future.”
After courting for over two years, Rosano asked the love of his life if she would do him the honour of being his wife.
His friends happened to be having a photo shoot for their son’s birthday, and Rosano saw this as a great cover to propose and document the occasion with video and photos.
“I had her looking at rings months before just to see what she liked. I asked my friend to purchase her amethyst stone ring online so Breon would not see the transaction on my card. I collected the ring on a Friday evening in July last year and the plan got under way soon after,” he shared.
One Sunday evening, the lovely couple went to Emancipation Park to make the most of the end of the weekend. Try as he might to convince Breon to go to Devon House, the actual location of the shoot, she was content with being at the park. She eventually obliged and the pair went ahead to the photo shoot.
When they arrived and saw what was happening, he pulled a plot twist in the celebrations by popping the question. A surprised Breon said yes. “The proposal was amazing! I was shocked and so happy,” she added.
With the big day only months away, the fiancée moved into swift action to make their nuptial dreams a reality, “I am naturally an excellent planner, I do well with planning events and with researching, so I did my wedding planning all on my own in the space of just three months, with a little help from my mom.”
Incorporating her favourite colour, purple, with his namesake colour, green, into her decor and wedding party, Breon revealed that the planning process was hectic but smooth at the same time.
As for the wedding dress, the bride-to-be said yes to a beautiful ball gown designed by her mother. “My mom made all my bridesmaid dresses, along with my wedding dress. As a seamstress, my mom can literally make anything!”
On November 28, 2022, Rosano and Breon joined hands and hearts in a wonderful wedding ceremony and reception at Caymanas Golf Club.
“Our wedding was amazing! My favourite moment was the feet washing. I felt so at peace and so humbled to wash my husband’s feet, and for him to wash mine. I felt as though Christ was pleased with our union. And I felt a calmness that assured me that we were in His hands and we were going to be well taken care of by Him, and also that we were going to be great for each other,” the bride said.
While the groom shared the similarity in his favourite moment, and said that he equally enjoyed meeting his gorgeous bride as she walked up the aisle.
