The National Water Commission (NWC) says following recent improvements in inflows, there will be a partial relaxation of the water supply regulations in Kingston and St Andrew (KSA).

It says effective immediately, communities served by the Constant Spring water supply systems will see a full restoration in supply, however, restrictions remain in place for those served by the Mona Reservoir.

The NWC says storage at Constant Spring has increased to its full capacity of 393 million gallons and as a result several major areas will have restrictions lifted.

Areas to benefit:

Sections of Duhaney Park, Patrick City, Pembroke Hall, Queensbury, Queensborough, Hughenden, Molynes Gardens, Molynes Road, Perkins Boulevard, Meadowbrook areas, Red Hills Road, Mannings Hill Road, Camperdown, Dunrobin Avenue, Constant Spring Road, Oakland, Havendale (sections), Arlene Gardens, Grants Pen, Shortwood Road, Eastwood Park Road, Constant Spring Road, Cassia Park, Waltham Park Road, Chisholm Avenue, Half-Way Tree, Hagley Park Road, Maxfield Avenue, Moreton Park, Half-Way Tree Road, Richmond Park, Cockburn Gardens, Kencot, Whitfield Town, Cross Roads (sections) and Maxfield Park.

In the meantime, with a 50.8 per cent storage level, the NWC says the Mona Reservoir remains below sustainable operating levels.

As a result, the 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. regulated schedule for customers dependent on the Mona system will remain in place. These include New Kingston, Liguanea and East Kingston.

The NWC says it is closely monitoring inflows and anticipates further improvement as the traditional rainy period continues into October.

It adds that once the Mona Reservoir levels continue to rise with its current trend it will foster confidence that there is adequate water to sustain operations through to the end of the year.

This will enable the Commission to adjust or relax the current regulations.
