Update |53-y-o son charged for murder of his 80-y-o mother

The police in St Catherine have charged the 53-year-old man who was taken into custody after the decomposing body of his 80-year-old mother was found with stab wounds inside their home.

Charged with murder is Paolo Grant of Cheesefield district in Linstead.

Dead is retiree Jasmine Grant, otherwise called Sister Grant.

Reports are that about 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19, the police were alerted after members of a church visited Grant's home after several unanswered calls to her phone.

Upon entry to the premises, the octogenarian's body was observed on the floor in an advanced state of decomposition with several wounds to the head.

The police theorise that she was killed on November 12, which was when she was last seen alive.

The scene was processed and the body was removed.
