The men are to seek bail.

Two men accused of being involved in a motor vehicle stealing ring were remanded when they appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court on Friday.

Fabian Williams and Thyan Edwards are jointly charged with larceny of a motor vehicle.

When the matter was mentioned, his attorneys argued that their clients are fit candidates for bail.

However, Acting Senior Parish Court Judge Janelle Nelson-Gayle ordered that antecedent and community reports be prepared by the Probation Department before bail is considered.

The defence maintained that the men are not guilty of the charges.

Their attorneys told the court that the accused were initially taken into custody and later released by the police.

They were subsequently invited back to the station, where they were arrested and charged, they argued.

According to allegations outlined by the Clerk of Courts, on January 21, members of the Counter Terrorism and Organised Crime (C-TOC) unit carried out an intelligence-driven operation in Spanish Town, St Catherine.

During the operation, Williams was allegedly apprehended and reportedly led police to a wooded area where two partially scrapped Toyota Voxy motor vehicles were discovered.

The court heard that he admitted that he and Edwards had jointly scrapped the vehicles.

Both men were subsequently arrested and charged.
