GraceKennedy expands recall of select Tropical Rhythms Fruit Punch drink

GraceKennedy Foods (GK Foods) has expanded its previously announced voluntary recall of specific batches of Grace Tropical Rhythms Fruit Punch, citing a product quality issue.

The expanded recall now includes the 200ml Tetra Pak of Tropical Rhythms Fruit Punch distributed in Jamaica only, GK Foods said in a statement on Thursday.

The affected product has the best-before code BBE 24/07/2027.

Previously, the company issued a voluntary recall of the one-litre Grace Tropical Rhythms Fruit Punch drink bearing the best-before codes BB JUL 21 27 L6 and BB JUL 22 27 L6 on the top of the package.

The voluntary recall is limited to the affected batches in Jamaica, Barbados, Saint Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago, Guyana, the Turks and Caicos Islands, and St Maarten. It does not apply to any other batches of Grace Tropical Rhythms Fruit Punch 1L or products distributed in other markets, the company said.

GK Foods said on Thursday that no other Tropical Rhythms flavours, batch codes or packaging formats, including glass bottles, are affected by the expanded recall.

“GK Foods has confirmed that the matter is a product quality issue, not a food-safety concern. No adverse health effects are expected from consuming the affected products,” the company said.

The company said today that it continues to work closely with its distributors and retail partners to remove the affected products from the market and remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of product quality and consumer confidence.

“Due to the product quality issue, consumers in Jamaica who have Grace Tropical Rhythms Fruit Punch in the 200ml or one-litre Tetra Pak with either of the specified codes should not consume it and should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or replacement,” the company said.
