Jamaica’s logistics sector is taking a decisive step towards smarter, faster operations with the introduction of a new artificial intelligence-powered solution designed to eliminate one of the industry’s most persistent inefficiencies: manual data entry.

ADVANTUM PCS, a long-standing technology provider in the shipping and supply-chain space, has launched an AI-powered Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Converter that simplifies how shipment data is prepared and submitted to systems such as ASYCUDA and the Port Community System (PCS).

For many logistics operators, the preparation and submission of shipment data remains a largely manual process – time-intensive and vulnerable to human error. ADVANTUM’s new tool addresses this directly by extracting key information from source documents such as manifests and bills of lading, transforming it into structured, system-ready data.

The converter enables users to review and edit extracted information before seamlessly generating ASYCUDA-ready files for a wide range of shipment types, including full container loads (FCL), less-than-container loads (LCL), and co-loaded cargo.

The implications for the industry are significant. By reducing repetitive data entry, the solution lowers operational costs, improves accuracy, and accelerates processing times. For brokers, agents, and logistics providers, this translates into more reliable submissions and fewer delays caused by incomplete or incorrect information – an ongoing challenge in Jamaica’s trade environment.

According to Tsahai Morgan, head of market development at ADVANTUM, the launch builds on existing capabilities while expanding access to a broader user base.

“We’ve had a converter embedded within our ADVANTUM freight-management platform for years, but this release takes it further. By introducing AI and making it available as a standalone module, we’re extending that efficiency to a much wider group of operators,” Morgan explained. “Our focus is always on finding smarter ways to simplify logistics processes, not just in Jamaica, but for our clients across the wider Caribbean.”

With over 40 years of experience, ADVANTUM has established itself as a key player in logistics technology, delivering solutions across freight, warehouse, port, and workforce management. Its systems, developed in collaboration with the Port Authority of Jamaica, support critical port operations islandwide.

As Jamaica continues to position itself as a logistics hub, innovations like this signal a broader shift towards digital transformation – one that prioritises efficiency, accuracy, and competitiveness in an increasingly complex global-trade landscape.
