Tallawahs lift third CPL trophy

The Jamaica Tallawahs secured their third Caribbean Premier League title following an eight-wicket win over the Barbados Royals in the final at Providence stadium in Guyana.

The Tallawahs victory bid was led by Brandon King who scored an unbeaten 83 to guide the Jamaica franchise to 162 for 2 in 16.1 overs, after the Royals had posted 161 for seven.

Shamarh Brooks chipped in with 47 runs while captain Rovman Powell was not out on 14.

Earlier, Fabian Allen and Nicholson Gordon bagged three wickets each to restrict The Royals, despite 51 from Azan Khan and 36 from Rahkeem Cornwall.

King was elated that his knock helped the team to their third CPL title,

“Within this team we have 100 per cent confidence in each other and we perform in big moments and it all came together today.”
