She’s My Destiny in a league of her own
SHE’S MY DESTINY’s smashing 1:04.4 run on Boxing Day puts her in a different league for Saturday’s SVREL 6th Anniversary Trophy at five and a half furlongs.
Fresh off her Mouttet Mile cracker on the lead against MAHOGANY, SHE’S MY DESTINY made light work of DUKE and GOD OF LOVE three weeks later, proving she belonged in grade one, which she duly franked on her next outing behind MAHOGANY.
Making her seasonal debut in the February 4 Eileen Cliggott Memorial at six and a half furlongs, SHE’S MY DESTINY tried slipping the middle-distance demon but was reeled in off the home turn. Despite being outclassed by MAHOGANY, SHE’S MY DESTINY ran bravely to lose by two and a half lengths in a smart 1:19.2.
Having consistently finished ahead of DUKE, save her kamikaze on the lead in the Mouttet Mile, SHE’S MY DESTINY’s improvement since returning off a four-month break last season, especially at the back end of the year, has confirmed superiority over the ageing grey.
DUKE remains as game as they come at age seven but needs a fast and contested pace to be effective. SHE’S MY DESTINY breaking from post-position one is a dream come true for the five-year-old, who absolutely loves the rail and should be coasting unmolested into the lane.
LABAN completed a double off the lay-up two weeks ago, outfinishing LURE OF LUCY and late-closing DUKE at five furlongs straight. However, should he try pressing SHE’S MY DESTINY, he will be run off his legs too early, nullifying his finishing speed.
