William Knibbs produced a solid round of golf on the final day to come away with a five-shot win following the two-day Constant Spring Golf Classic, which culminated at the weekend.

Knibbs’ 12 over par 152 was enough to stave off the challenge of second-place Zandre Roye, who shot a 17 over par 157.

Dr Mark Newnham came in third in the zero to six category after carding a 22 over par 162. Fourth place went to Sean Morris, who shot 89 and 75 for a combined score of 24 over par 164. The other competitors in the 0-6 category were Tenny Davis, Sean Garbutt, and Vikram Dhiman.

Knibbs who was securing his first title in two years, said the tough windy conditions made it hard for the golfers to read. However, two birdies in both rounds were enough to chalk up scores of 78 and 74 to secure the win.

“It felt great to win again, and the conditions were hard to gauge due to the wind. I was tied for the lead with Zandre (Roye) coming into the final day, and I was able to hold it down and put up some scores on the back nine.”

In the meantime, Bruce Levy took home the men’s 7-12 category after carding a 19 over par 159 while Mitchell Watson took the men’s 13-24 category following scores of 86 and 99 for a 45 over par 185.

The master’s title went to Vivian Monteith, who carded 93 and 90 for a 43-over par score of 183.

Jamaica Golf Association President Jodi Munn-Barrow secured the ladies 0-12 category following scores of 77 and 76 for a 13 over par 153 while the boys under-18 title went to Jerone Thomas who shot a 44 over par 184.
