Men’s 400 metres world record holder Wayde Van Niekerk sped to a smooth 44.21 seconds clocking at the Racers’ Grand Prix this evening, good enough to win in a new meet record.

Jamaica’s 21-year-old quarter-miler Zandrion Barnes, who finished second, registered a personal best of 44.90 seconds, while national record holder Rusheen McDonald finished third in 45.24.
