Moore finishes 14th in women’s mono bob

At the end of yesterday’s action at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games, Jamaica’s Mica Moore found herself 14th in women’s mono bob after four heats across two days of action.
Moore totalled a time of four minutes, 1.31 seconds (4:01.31) to place just inside the top 15 athletes from a field of 20.
Elena Taylor of the United States, who won silver at the 2022 Winter Games, took the gold medal this time around in a total time of 3:57.93.
She finished just ahead of former Olympic champion, Germany’s Laura Nolte, who settled for silver in 3:57.97, with the US’s Kaillie Humphries picking up the bronze in 3:58.05.
Moore started her series in the women’s mono bob with a time of 1:00.55 in heat one on Sunday, before closing out the day with a time of 1:00.43 in heat two for 15th overall.
Her time of 1:00.41 in heat three yesterday saw her maintaining her 15th-place position to move into the final, and medal-determining, heat, where she clocked a time of 59.92, her fastest in the competition, to finish 14th overall.
In the men’s Slalom, Jamaica’s lone representative, Henry Rivers, was one of the dozens of athletes who failed to post a time in either of their runs.
Of the 96 registered athletes, only 39 were able to post a time in both runs as the event was heavily impacted by poor weather conditions and low visibility.
Switzerland’s Loic Meillard took the gold medal in a total time of 1:53.61, ahead of Austria’s Fabio Gstrein, silver, in 1:53.96, and Norway’s Henrik Kristofferson, bronze, in1:54.74.
In the first two heats of the men’s two-man bobsled race, Jamaica’s team of Shane Pitter and Junior Harris sit 23rd with a total time of 1:53.40.
Pitter, the team’s pilot, and Harris, the brakeman, opened their series with a time of 56.68 in heat one.
Their second time of 56.72 left them just outside the event’s top 20.
They will need to improve their times in heat three today if they are to secure a spot in the top 20 in order to compete in the final, and medal-determining, heat four.
Heat three is set to be held at 1 p.m., when Jamaica will go hunting for a spot in the final heat.
They currently trailing Liechtenstein, who sit in the final qualifying spot by eight-hundredths of a second.
