The Reggae Boyz secured their place in the 2026 Concacaf Nations League quarterfinals after battling to a 1-1 draw with Honduras at the Chelato Ucles National Stadium tonight, finishing second in Group B on goal difference.
Tyreece Campbell gave Jamaica the lead in the 27th minute with a superb individual effort, but Luis Palma responded with an equally impressive strike in the 51st minute to earn Honduras a share of the points.
After the game, Campbell said he believed the Boyz should have come away with the win, but was pleased they had secured their place in the final eight.
“I felt we could have won because we had a lot of chances in the first half but we still got there in the end,” he said after the match.
“I think we should have won but I’m still happy we got to the quarterfinals. It is very important because this was our goal to qualify for the quarterfinals and we achieved it.”
Jamaica and Guatemala both ended the group stage on seven points, with Guatemala claiming top spot.
Suriname also finished on seven points, but slipped to third place on Jamaica's superior goal difference.
The draw also secured Honduras' League A status after they finished fourth in the group on four points.
Martinique and El Salvador, who also ended on four points, were relegated to League B.
The result means Jamaica will now face Mexico in a two-legged quarterfinal tie in November, with a place in the 2027 Concacaf Gold Cup at stake.
The winner of the tie will automatically qualify for the Gold Cup, while the loser will have to advance through the qualifying round.
This will be Jamaica’s third consecutive appearance in the Nations League quarterfinals. The country's best result came in 2024 when it won the bronze medal.
