Racing United rebounded from their defeat to Montego Bay United last week in spectacular fashion, drubbing Molynes United 6-0 at Sabina Park, in the Jamaica Premier League yesterday.

Nickyle Ellis (32th, 60th) led the way with a brace, while Damion Herrera, Ronaldo Biggs, Javaughn Cole and Kadeam Young got one each.

Racing coach Densil Theobald was impressed with how his team responded to last week’s defeat.

“Football is about winning matches, and not just winning but winning in style. That is why I can only commend the players.

“ We set a goal this week to rebound from our loss and we did it in style. We are about improving each game. Our next game is against Tivoli Gardens, and we will rest and prepare for them, “ he said.

Racing wasted no time after the first whistle and took the lead, with just two minutes on the clock, through Herrera, who fired home a well threaded pass from captain Markovic Brown.

Racing then squandered other good opportunities to go further ahead, but eventually extended their lead, thanks to a well-taken free kick from Ellis.

Molynes showed very little attacking zest and had no shot on target in the first half. Racing almost had a third before the break but goalkeeper Glenroy Samuels went full stretch, to deny Herrera his second of the day.

The Portmore team added a third 15 minutes into the second half, when Ellis ran in behind and slotted past Samuels in goal.

Moments later, Biggs shrugged off a challenge from a defender inside the box and slipped the ball past Samuels to make it 4-0.

Javaughn Cole then finished off a good team buildup in the 72nd minute and Young sealed the win when he fired home a pass from Biggs just minutes from the end.

Racing climbed into second with nine points, while Molynes, who were losing their third straight match, are in 11th place on three points.
