Isratech Jamaica Limited officially opened its multi-million dollar Cornwall headquarters and its first retail outlet at Reading in Montego Bay on Wednesday.
Audley Shaw, Minister of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, in his presentation, lauded the Hodara family for their commitment to Jamaica, even as he lamented the failure of Jamaicans to capitalise on the new technologies.
“Most importantly, what is fantastic about them is the technology that they have brought to Jamaica, (but) we are not taking advantage of the technologies that they have brought to agriculture in Jamaica,” Shaw said.
“We have a lot of work to do, because of the almost 200,000 acres of irrigable lands we have in Jamaica, we are only dealing with 12 to 13 of that amount.”
Mayor of Montego Bay, Councillor Homer Davis, in bringing greetings, commended the Isratech team for choosing the tourist capital, the hub of the services sector in Jamaica.
"Montego Bay is pleased to welcome another major investment to its already impressive collection of world rated and serious investors,” Davis said.
“I was very pleased to know that we are welcoming a company that prides itself in being pioneers in the expansion of the latest technology in providing solutions to the environment, water, agriculture, and alternative energy.”
Isratech is considered the premier manufacturer of irrigation equipment in the Caribbean, boasting an experienced team of engineers serving the agricultural, water and energy sectors.
