Season of Love: the Barretts’ Story

Seasons come and seasons go, but the connection Rodale Dwyer and Isaac Barrett has remained the same.

The two began their journey back in 2008, while they were in college.

Issac tells Flair: "My friend was pursuing a friend of Rodale's, and that is really how we met. Throughout the semester, we became really good friends."

In 2009, Rodale migrated, and their lives went in separate directions. Despite the distance, they tried to keep in touch.

By 2010, however, their communication decreased and contact was relegated to only birthdays.

But the spring of 2013 brought about a refreshing change in their direction. The couple reunited when Rodale visited Jamaica.

Issac decided he wanted their relationship to take the next step, so he migrated to Canada in 2014.

"From then until today, we have been inseparable. Fate took us on our individual journeys then brought us back together. Now, we are very different people - life's experiences have taught us wisdom - and with that, we have committed our lives to Christ and our marriage," the couple revealed.

The Proposal

Their relationship had grown significantly over the course of three years. When Issac was ready to seal the deal, he decided to return to the place where they first met - Jamaica.

On a trip back home in March 2016, Issac took the opportunity to ask Rodale's father's permission for his daughter's hand in marriage - a consent her dad gladly gave.

From there, Isaac made reservations for Rodale's birthday at her favourite restaurant, Ribbiz, where they engaged in a romantic dinner for two. After the meal, he popped the question in front of her friends and onlookers.

She gasped and said, "YES!"

Poolside Ceremony

On June 4, family and close friends from Canada, the United States and Jamaica gathered at the Gilgal House Villa in Westmoreland to witness their tropical nuptials.

The ceremony by the poolside overlooking the Caribbean Sea was absolutely breathtaking.

Before the bride made her way down the aisle in her dazzling Anny Fang gown (a white, floor-length ball gown boasting a sweetheart neckline), the mini-bride prepared for her mother's grand entrance, making a rose petal path while holding the sign 'Wait until you see her'.

The bride and groom exchanged vows and rings, followed by a symbolic representation of their union in the form of a candle-lighting and sand ceremony, after which they danced down the aisle as husband and wife.

The reception

Isaac and Rodale decided to amplify the fun factor by entering their reception with a dance they choreographed to Heavy D & The Boyz's Now That We Found Love. They enjoyed dinner catered by Paradise catering, and later held each other close for their first dance as husband and wife to Adele's Make You Feel My Love.

But it was the father-daughter dance to Luther Vandross Dance With My Father that had onlookers close to tears.

The newly-weds took their bliss overseas, honeymooning back home in Canada.
