UTech has impacted my life

THE EDITOR, Sir:

As a past student of the University of Technology (UTech), having completed a degree in entrepreneurship, I can attest to the major impact that that course, and, by extension, the institution has had on my life and career as a business person and now a CEO.

My knowledge and management competencies increased exponentially by the time the courses were completed, not to mention my self-confidence.

UTech is blessed with some of the most professional and committed lectures of any institution I have attended locally and overseas. I am sure it's their dedication to the success of their students that is the driving force that keeps them motivated. Lecturers of the Joan Duncan School of Entrepreneurship, Ethics & Leadership (JDSEEL) must be specially commended as despite being grossly underpaid, many spend endless hours outside of regular class time to help students understand concepts and principles at no additional cost.

My years at UTech were the most productive of my academic life and have prepared me for my journey throughout. This institution is a change agent and deserves the support of Government, the society, companies, and others to continue its yeoman task.

Former education minister Ronald Thwaites' column of September 17 is on point when he said that justice and equity demand immediate changes in the Government's relations with the University of Technology, Jamaica.
