Bravo, Antoinette Aiken!

THE EDITOR, Sir:

I want to applaud Antoinette Aiken for her bravery and excellence.

Last Sunday evening, while being interviewed on 'Profile', she decided to tell all of us that she is the proud child of deaf parents and also a non-heteronormative (not straight) woman living in Jamaica.

Antoinette, who is practically in all of our living rooms during national broadcasts signing and interpreting for government agencies, political parties and private businesses so that 7,000 of our deaf brothers and sisters who are very often forgotten are informed, is a reminder that all Jamaicans matter and are to be treated equally, since we all have a role to play in the development of this country we call home.
