THE EDITOR, Madam:
The recent spike in global oil prices highlights our urgent need to accelerate Jamaica’s shift toward renewable energy. Our heavy dependence on imported fossils fuels leaves our economy incredibly vulnerable to external shocks. Every price jump hits Jamaican families directly at the gas pump, and through higher JPS electricity bills.
We must aggressively expand our solar and wind infrastructure to protect our financial future. Investing heavily in clean energy will create local jobs and lower utility cost. Most importantly, it will build long-term economic resilience for our nation. The government must prioritise and fast-track these green initiatives immediately.
