Caribbean creativity is taking centre stage this season, with standout moments across beauty, fashion, and art. From Wayne Booth’s new holiday campaign to Theophilio at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and a bold LeBlanc-Don Brodie collaboration, regional talent continues to shine globally.

‘POINT OF’ BOOTH

It’s a brand-spanking new holiday beauty campaign for SAINT International top model Wayne Booth.

Having graced global make-up advertising campaigns for Fenty and Chanel previously, Booth is serving face once more in the just-dropped campaign for the launch of Point Of View (POV) Beauty’s limited-edition kits.

Giving behind-the-scenes insight to Sunday Lifestyle, Booth shared: “I shot the campaign with photographer Jenn Collins in September in New York. It was a great day and I felt very confident. The team was super-easy to work with, and I enjoyed the teaser vids and images as well as the finished visuals when they came out on November 11.”

The on-set crew was rounded out by make-up artist Allie Smith, hairstylist Ledora Francis and stylist Anya Ziourova.

Dressed in a silver metallic tank top, steel-hued belt and skirt and rocking a bob with bangs ‘do for the Yuletide promotion dubbed ‘The Holiday Shop Is Open’, the Jamaican fashion star counts herself a fan of the POV beauty and skincare line and its founder, Mikayla Nogueira.

“I love the intense hydration, smoothing and even complexion I had. It is a fabulous skin prep system, and I love the glass skin finish,” she raved about the creams and serums.

What’s her favourite product? “Definitely the ‘Drip It’ nourishing glow serum,” she hastened to declare. “It gives my skin a supple, soft look.”

The SAINT star, who’s based in New York, hinted at more beauty client projects on the way. “I can’t wait for you guys to see them, and I can’t wait myself,” shared an excited Booth, who took time off from modelling after welcoming her daughter Azuri two years ago.

THEOPHILIO DRESSES EN VOGUE

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony got a touch of Jamaican-American fashion designer Edvin Thompson last weekend.

The En Vogue trio Terry Ellis, Maxine Jones and Cindy Herron – members of the 1990s rhythm and blues supergroup – rocked custom Theophilio ensembles stitched by Thompson for their onstage performance alongside inductees Cheryl ‘Salt’ James, Sandra ‘Pepa’ Denton and Deidra ‘Spinderella’ Roper. Notably, Denton is of Jamaican heritage.

En Vogue and Salt-N-Pepa sang their 1993 collab hit, Whatta Man, at the celebrity-stacked, Los Angeles-hosted event. The hip-hop and R&B flavoured track peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 List some 32 years ago.

“The opportunity [to dress them] came through En Vogue’s stylist, Bryon Javar,” we’re told after tracking down Thompson in The Big Apple for the deets. “He reached out a few weeks before the ceremony and said they wanted looks that honoured the group’s legacy and was timeless and unapologetically feminine. They also wanted to align with the night’s celebration of music and cultural icons.”

Sketching to dressing took two weeks. The designer said while the creative process stayed true to the Theophilio aesthetic, ultimately the curated outfits were “about fusing that sense of legacy with modern elegance, bold silhouettes, clean lines and details that reflect both strength and grace”.

Himself a fan of both the music catalogue and image-making of En Vogue and awardees Salt-N-Pepa, Thompson opined to Sunday Lifestyle that “growing up, their visuals and soundtracks were a part of my own creative awakening. To see them celebrated on such a historic stage and have Theophilio be part of the moment was incredibly special”.

Up next for Theophilio, according to its founder Thompson, are “upcoming collaborations that bridge fashion, culture, and community in new ways”.

CARIBBEAN STRONG

The Dominican designing duo of Yamil Arbaje and Angelo Beato – the creative minds of the co-ed brand LeBlanc Studios, which they established in 2014 – are showcasing their Fall 2025 menswear collection, with an assist from Jamaican-American photog Don Brodie.

“Don first shot one of our jackets in the Dominican Republic for DAZED magazine three years ago. I came across the photo later and messaged him to get it,” Arbaje told Sunday Lifestyle last Wednesday from Gotham. “We started chatting on Instagram after that, and I kind of knew we’d end up working [together] at some point. The first time we met was at a coffee shop in Soho to talk and share ideas.”

Brodie harkens back to their initial meeting, remembering he was pleased to discover they were both alumni of Parsons, The New School. “When we met for coffee, he was incredibly kind and even gifted me a beautiful billfold as a token of appreciation.”

Fast-forward to the present day, and Brodie lensed selected pieces from LeBlanc’s latest collection for the seventh volume of his publication, Forgotten Lands, which celebrates Caribbean art, culture and dialogue.

Models Giovanni Canela, Randy Foster, and Ernesto Rodriguez – all cast by the designers after happenstance encounters – are the subjects for Brodie’s black-and-white portraiture.

Of their new seasonal collection, Beato explained that the designs “explore neo-feudalism and how contemporary society is cyclically returning to structures of hierarchy, servitude and power disguised as progress”.

As to Brodie’s vision, through the collaboration with the Caribbean-centric brand, “we were intent on working with individuals who represented LeBlanc’s aesthetic while representing the familiar faces found throughout Caribbean communities”.

The 43-year-old photog traces his Jamaican roots to his mother’s family in Lucea and his father’s lineage in Mandeville. Back home this week, he has launched a Hurricane Melissa relief aid project, Prints for Jamaica – with 40 artists around the world featuring limited edition prints of photography, illustration, painting and other forms of 2D media – to raise funds for charities associated with American Friends of Jamaica and Waves of Water.
