It was always you...
Brandon and Jordanne say ‘I do’ in perfect timing
Dr Jordanne Lauren Levy and Brandon Anderson had crossed paths a few times since childhood, but it wasn’t until the timing was right that they truly connected. It all began with a playful debate over a Boxing Day dinner menu in 2019 at a dinner hosted at Jordanne’s parents’ home, where Brandon made a bold first impression. That encounter set the stage for their journey together, eventually leading to them exchanging vows in a breathtaking ceremony at the Great House of Prospect Estate on Saturday, December 13.
“He was tall, charming, and very daring,” Jordanne told Island Wedding of her first impression of Brandon. “He didn’t hesitate to strike up a conversation and tease me a little.”
Brandon was equally struck, “I knew I had to speak to her. As we talked, I felt a connection [that] I had never experienced before. [She was] calm, natural, and exciting all at once. I knew there was more there.”
The defining moment of the night unfolded in Jordanne’s parents’ kitchen. When Brandon asked what she had cooked, Jordanne jokingly admitted she had not cooked a thing. He later returned with a smile, quipping, “The food was wicked… but if it was the chicken, I must say, I much preferred the fish.”
That playful moment set the tone for a shared sense of humour that would follow them through the years.
They saw each other again at events throughout the holiday season before going on their first official date on January 1, 2020, at East Japanese restaurant.
The evening was filled with easy conversation, spontaneous freestyle rapping in the car courtesy of Brandon, and a hilarious mix-up involving his twin brother.
“Because he’s a twin, he was stared at by the family of his twin brother’s girlfriend at the time as we came walking into the restaurant. They thought it was his twin brother Kyle with another woman. After much explaining and identity confirmation, we all laughed,” Jordanne shared.
By February 20 of that same year, they were officially a couple, though the world was about to change. As COVID-19 shut down borders, Jordanne and Brandon nurtured their relationship virtually, studying together, watching shows together, praying, and falling asleep on phone calls. “[Those moments] made me feel deeply seen and safe,” Jordanne added.
For Brandon, the distance only confirmed the truth, “I realised I couldn’t imagine my future without her presence.”
BIG QUESTION
On August 21, 2024, during a trip to Québec City in Canada, Brandon prepared to ask Jordanne the most important question of his life. At their Airbnb, he orchestrated a day of surprises, including a private massage and a rose-petal-lined path.
For Jordanne, the trip was a welcome reset after a pivotal season in her life, completing her reign as Miss Universe Jamaica 2023 while also finishing her internship at the University Hospital of the West Indies.
Brandon initially planned on proposing on the balcony, but due to the morning rain, had to relocate to inside the Airbnb.
Her day began quietly with prayer and journalling before Brandon surprised her with a massage. While she was being pampered, he transformed the space, leaving a dress, her makeup, and a handwritten note on the bed.
“I had a dream the night before that he was going to propose,” Jordanne admitted, though the reality was more breathtaking than she imagined.
Following the sound of their special playlist and a trail of rose petals, she found Brandon on one knee.
“It was one of those moments you dream about as a little girl, and it completely took my breath away,” she explained.
TYING THE KNOT
The path to the altar was far from smooth. Just six weeks before the wedding, Hurricane Melissa forced the couple to relocate from Montego Bay. Rising to the occasion, they ultimately chose the Great House of Prospect Estate as their new venue.
Jordanne walked down the aisle to Tems’ Higher in a fit-and-flare silk mikado gown by Allure Bridals.
“Watching her walk toward me was the most breathtaking moment of the entire day,” Brandon said.
In a delightful twist of serendipity, both unknowingly included the “chicken or fish” story in their vows, eliciting laughter from the crowd.
The reception followed, taking place beneath a softly lit tent on the lawns of Prospect. The couple honoured their late grandparents with a remembrance table, keeping their cherished presence alive in spirit. Breaking with tradition, Jordanne dedicated her bouquet to her mother, Donna Levy, celebrating her love, guidance, and unwavering support.
Reflecting on their journey, starting with a 2019 kitchen conversation to a 2025 covenant, the Andersons remain anchored in their favourite scripture, Ecclesiastes 3:11, which says, “He has made everything beautiful in its time.”
