A Cassanova love story
With faith and intention, Andru-Lee and Selena tie the knot
What began as a slow, intentional friendship grew into a love shaped by time, faith and a passion for art for Selena Fisher and Andru-Lee Cassanova. Their relationship began in 2018, when they first crossed paths through church and connected on social media, and it culminated in an intimate ceremony last November at Vintage Gardens in Bellevue Heights, St Catherine.
“Andru first discovered me on IG (Instagram) roughly a day after seeing me at his church in March 2018,” Selena told Island Wedding. What followed was a period of mutual curiosity, where each took note of the other’s character from a distance. Selena was drawn early on to Andru-Lee’s artistic eye, sensing the creativity that set him apart.
“I thought his IG feed was really cool. I appreciated his creativity with how he took photos and how it had an artistic vibe to it,” she added.
For Andru-Lee, the attraction was immediate and genuine. “I believe the word I’m searching for is beautiful; [that was my first thought] when I [first] spotted her at church in a red dress,” he said, smiling. Rather than rushing into romance, the pair focused on building a friendship first, aware of their attraction but preferring to let their connection develop naturally.
While their bond had been brewing for years, the couple’s intentional “getting to know each other” phase officially began in late 2022. That November, the two attended Films Under the Stars and Selena explained that, although they had not labelled the moment, they were spending more time together.
Andru-Lee, however, recognised its significance: “That was a really special moment in our progression too because we really connected [with the artistry].”
Their first official date came in March 2023, starting with Popeyes and a screening of Creed III at the cinema, followed by eating and painting by the shore at Hellshire Beach. Before committing fully, the couple took a step that was private, reflective, and deeply rooted in faith.
WITH INTENTION
“After doing a three-day fast from each other to seek God about starting an official relationship, we both felt confirmation that this person was someone God had His hand on for us. We started officially dating on March 20, 2023,” Selena shared.
From the very beginning, both entered the relationship with marriage in mind, and for Selena, that intention was unwavering.
“From before entering this relationship, I had already counted him as someone I would marry. I don’t see the point in casual dating. Investing that time and emotional energy in someone you don’t see for your future is very draining and counterproductive to your life,” she said, adding that each stage of their relationship continued to affirm her decision.
For Andru-Lee, what stood out most was Selena’s emotional depth,“Her sensitivity. That ability to feel things through is her superpower and it really makes her amazing friend and partner to have.”
Like many couples preparing for marriage, their journey was not without challenges.
Selena noted, “[We navigated] health scares, fears of me migrating and leaving him, initial opposition from parents when it came to marrying early, distance and having to maintain a mostly virtual relationship.”
Still, their philosophy around love remained steady, with Andru-Lee describing their approach as one rooted in choice rather than chance. “The best love doesn’t necessarily come from falling in it but finding it and choosing to walk in it together each day,” he added.
That mindset carried through to the proposal. On their one-year dating anniversary in March 2024, Andru-Lee proposed to Selena in the parking lot of Sunshine Palace, intentionally recreating elements of their earliest dates. By then, movie nights had become their thing.
“He had picked me up for a late-night movie… and while leaving the theatre, he said, ‘I could do this forever – dates, doing life, all the works’,” Selena recalled.
Moments later, the question followed. “He asked if I will officially do life with him forever. I said yes,” she said, laughing as she remembered his nerves. “He was starting to shake a little and said the asphalt was hurting his knee!”
Though surprised by the timing, Selena said the moment aligned with what she had sensed spiritually.
“I had a dream some months before that indicated a wedding celebration happening in March… I felt very valued and prized because of how beautiful and thoughtful the ring was and the fact that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me,” she explained.
On Saturday, November 29, 2025, the duo joined hands and hearts in a beautiful ceremony that reflected the same intentionality that defined their relationship. With their guests dressed in all white, Selena reflected on the big day, describing it as feeling “surreal”.
“Our spiritual father [and the officiant, Apostle Courtney McLean], made an impromptu request for both of our fathers to lay their hands on Andru and I’s heads and declare a blessing over us,” Mrs Cassanova highlighted as a standout moment.
In keeping with their preference for intimacy, the couple chose to end their celebration with a private family dinner in Kingston.
