More than 750 runners and walkers laced up on Sunday for the Forestry Department’s inaugural 5K, turning a morning of fitness and family fun into a show of support for the restoration of Jamaica’s forests and mangrove ecosystems. Held under the theme ‘Run in the East, RE-LEAF the West!’, the event raised funds for the department’s RE-LEAF initiative, with proceeds going towards restoration work in areas severely affected by Hurricane Melissa.
