Passage Fort, St Catherine woman charged with embezzlement

A female employee of an insurance agency has been arrested and charged for allegedly embezzling thousands of dollars from one of her customer’s accounts.

She has been identified as 38-year-old underwriting clerk Janiel Everett of Biscayne Circle, in Passage Fort, St Catherine.

It is alleged that in August last year the male customer gave Everett $33,000 to add to his account.

However, investigators say when the account was audited in April this year only $16,000 were reflected on the system instead of the full value of $84,977.

Everett has been bailed in the sum of $30,000 and is scheduled to appear in the Corporate Area Criminal Court on April 22.
