Hello Mi Neighbour | Lying is never the answer
Hello, mi neighbour! Someone says "a lie makes a hundred laps around the world before the truth is out of bed". And we may smile, but by the end of the day, truth wins.
Thinking about lying your way out of a jam today? Think again! Those lies could get you into a more serious pickle, as they often do, especially in the long run.
Yes, millions of lies travel around the world at high speed every day undetected, often by the trusting. They wreak havoc on people's lives! Business transactions, negotiations, casual or committed relationships are laced with them.
Are we all fitted with lie detectors? Some persons may be able to spot lies readily, based on their knowledge or spiritual alertness, but oftentimes it is not until the damage is done before the lie is discovered.
Some say lies are just a part of life and should be embraced by all, especially where one's well-being is not endangered. Others will argue that lies have saved lives on numerous occasions, so lies should live.
Some politicians will admit that mastery at lying is a critical perquisite for political success. Uuuh!
Whatever argument we may posit in justifying lies, there are always better ways to resolve issues and enjoy life's successes than lying, no matter the circumstance or practicality of the untruth.
Dangers of a pathological liar
Truth be told, those who practise lies become pathological after a while, and that's when lying truly becomes deadly! The pathological liar has lost the ability to tell the truth. Not only are they gratified by lying, they will harm everyone they come across.
Some characteristics of pathological liars - they study you: they don't want you to know the truth. They know what you might or might not believe and take advantage of that. In other words, they look for weaknesses.
These liars do not have any moral consciousness of how their behaviour may affect you emotionally, and so don't think before lying.
Normal liars will often show signs of uneasiness when being cornered, but the pathological liar is not fazed one bit. They display no negative emotions. They are expert at direct eye contact, seem relaxed, appear very sociable and will 'kill you' with humour.
DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND
Many pathological liars use sexual, psychological or emotional arousal to distract you from the truth - causing you to feel connected to them. Proceed with caution when dealing with someone who seems to be directing their attention to you in such a way. Overall, trying to understand the liar is very difficult. It requires a lot of study, patience, intuition and wisdom.
Research continues on how to understand why these liars do what they do and how not to become one of their victims. But not to worry, there's something called 'lang run shaat ketch'. Pray for them.
So remember, if you are thinking about lying your way out of a jam today, think again! Those lies could get you into a more serious pickle, as they often do in the long run.
