The People's National Party (PNP) says a Selection Conference will be held on May 20 at the St. Elizabeth Technical High School to select its caretaker candidate for North East St. Elizabeth.

Current Member of Parliament Evon Redman has indicated that he will not contest the seat when a general election is called, creating a vacancy for a new PNP candidate.

The party says the two aspirants, Basil Waite and Everton Fisher, were interviewed and approved by its Integrity Commission to contest the Selection Conference.

It says both men have signed the party's Code of Conduct and have committed to conducting a clean campaign and holding their supporters responsible for any actions which may bring the party into disrepute.

The PNP says 1,100 delegates are eligible to vote and General Secretary Julian Robinson will be the Director of Elections.
