Traffic signals at Industrial Terrace/Spanish Town Road out of operation

The National Works Agency (NWA) says motorists should be mindful of pedestrians attempting to cross the roadway at the Industrial Terrace/Spanish Town Road intersection in the vicinity of the Denham Town Primary School in downtown, Kingston as the traffic signals at the location are out of operation.

The NWA says motorists should give way to persons using the pedestrian crossing.

It says the reminder is being reinforced particularly because the facility is used mainly by students who attend schools in the area.

Motorists are also being reminded that the intersection is to be treated as a four-way stop and that no one has the right of way while the traffic lights are out of operation.

The NWA says the traffic signals stopped working due to damage to signal cabinets following a rare high voltage electrical surge.

The agency says it is currently working on having the cabinet replaced and restoring the traffic signals in the shortest possible time.
