15-y-o boy among four charged with arson at Ocho Rios church

A 15-year-old boy is among four persons charged in relation to a fire and robbery at a church in Ocho Rios, St Ann.

Charged with arson and sacrilege are 19-year-old Hassaine Harrilal, otherwise called 'Duppy', of Farm Hill, Exchange, Ocho Rios, Jamiel McDonald, 19, otherwise called 'Jamie', of Cornpiece, Exchange, Ocho Rios, 21-year-old Dillano Headlam, otherwise called 'Juvi', a barber of Cornpiece, Exchange, Ocho Rios,  and a 15-year-old boy also of Exchange, Ocho Rios.

Their court date is being finalised.

Reports from the Ochi Rios police are that about 10 p.m. on Monday, February 26, the police were alerted to a fire at a local church.

Following cooling down operations, it was discovered that the building and several items inside the church were damaged at an estimated value of $1,500,000.

Further checks revealed that clothing and food items, including rice, flour and sugar were missing.

Police, acting on information, conducted operations in the area where a premise was searched and the items discovered.

The occupants of the house were subsequently taken into custody and later charged.
