Government's ASPIRE framework a blueprint for the Caribbean region, says Williams
Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Fayval Williams, says the Government of Jamaica's ASPIRE framework is also a regional blueprint for transformation.
The government unveiled the ASPIRE framework last November, touting it as a guide for the nation’s pivot to inclusive economic growth.
ASPIRE stands for: Access to Economic Opportunity for All (inclusive growth); Safety and Security; People (human capital development); Infrastructure Development; Reform of the Bureaucracy (ease, speed, and cost of doing business); and Economic Diversification/New Industries.
Addressing the Caribbean Investment Forum at the Montego Bay Convention Centre in St James on Tuesday, Williams declared that “Aspire is not just Jamaica's growth framework. It is a regional blueprint for transformation.”
Williams, in delivering the keynote address at the opening ceremony, emphasised the need to “move from potential to performance, from ambition to achievement.”
She added: “Transformation is not the task of governments alone. We need private capital, innovation and cross-border collaboration.”
Williams also issued a strong call to action to investors.
“To every investor here today, I say this, the Caribbean is not simply waiting to be discovered. We are ready to partner with you. We are investing in the future, and we invite you to do the same.”
