18-y-o student killed in home invasion in St Andrew
An 18-year-old sixth-form student from a prominent Kingston high school was shot and killed Monday during a pre-dawn break-in at her family’s home in Smokey Vale, St Andrew.
According to police reports, the tragic incident occurred around 1:40 a.m. when an intruder broke into the residence and began ransacking the premises.
The student, who was at home with relatives, reportedly exited her room and came face-to-face with the perpetrator, who shot her in the head before fleeing the scene.
She was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Head of the St Andrew North Police Division, Superintendent Randy Sweeney, confirmed the incident and is urging anyone with information to contact the police or the Constant Spring Criminal Investigation Branch at 876-924-1421.
