Police trainee accused of wounding roommate during dispute
A police trainee who allegedly used a piece of metal to injure a colleague at the National Police College of Jamaica has been charged with wounding with intent.
The accused is Sylvester Williams of Marlin Avenue, East Prospect, St Thomas.
Reports are that about 12:30 a.m. on September 12, Williams and the complainant, who is his roommate, were at their dormitory at the training facility when an altercation developed between them, which became physical.
Williams allegedly punched the complainant repeatedly and then used a metal object to rain blows all over his body, resulting in wounds that bled.
The injured roommate was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was treated for his injuries and released to the training college's medical centre, where he continues to recover.
A report was made and an investigation resulted in Williams' arrest.
He was subsequently charged following a question and answer session in the presence of his legal representative.
A court date is being finalised for his appearance.
