It was a disappointing showing in the men’s discus throw qualification round, as Ralford Mullings, Chad Wright, and Fedrick Dacres all failed to advance to the final at the Tokyo World Athletics Championships.

Competing in Group A, Mullings entered the competition riding high on confidence, having recently set a new national record of 72.01 metres last month and was expected to challenge for a medal.

However, he suffered an early exit, with his only legal throw from three attempts measuring just 56.82 metres, placing him 35th overall.

Wright, the other Jamaican in Group A, was consistent in his series and ended with a best effort of 62.87 metres.

However, it was not enough to advance, as he placed 19th overall.

Dacres followed in Group B but had a less-than-stellar showing, registering only one legal attempt with a distance of 60.54 metres, placing 28th.
