A 14-year-old boy from St Catherine has been charged with house breaking and theft following an incident in Greater Portmore, St Catherine last month.

Reports from the Greater Portmore police are that at about 8 a.m., a woman securely locked her home and left for work. On her return later that evening, she discovered that her house had been broken into.

The woman reportedly reviewed footage from security cameras installed at the property and observed the teenage boy and his accomplices climbing onto the roof of the house, gaining entry, and stealing multiple items before fleeing through the same route.

A report was subsequently made to the police. The teen was handed over by a relative to the authorities on Tuesday, after which he was taken into custody.

He was formally charged with house breaking and larceny following a question-and-answer session conducted in the presence of his attorney.

His court date is currently being finalised.
